| The Principality of Andorra is a small state in the heart of the Pyrenees, situated between France (Pyrénées Orientales and Ariège) to the North and Spain (Catalonia : Department of Alt Urgell) to the South. Andorra shares a border of 57 km and 64 km with these two countries.
Andorra is a mountainous country; the highest point of the country is the Coma Pedrosa at 2946 metres and its lowest point can be found at the confluence of the Runer and Valira rivers at 840 metres.
The Principality of Andorra is located in the heart of the Pyrenees, with 468 sq. km. of surface area and a more than 65,000 inhabitants.
The official language of Andorra is Catalan, but French and Spanish are widely used as well, owing to the economic and social links with France and Spain.
These days Andorrans are increasingly using English for commercial purposes.
Andorra is a duty-free zone, but travellers should check French-Spanish regulations as both these countries maintain customs control at the borders.
